Seminary of Overseas Missions

Created in 1922, the seminary occupied part of the Convent of Christ, above all the west wing, cloisters (Claustro dos Corvos and Claustro da Micha), refectory, kitchens, dormitories and vegetable gardens.
The purpose of the seminary was to train recruits to go out into the colonies and spread the mission. The young boys, who boarded at the institution, were given academic and religious instruction from a young age.
In 1990, the seminary was transferred to Fátima and Cernache do Bonjardim.
